How to Protect Technology in Summer

Now that we’ve got longer and warmer summers, those of us who are lucky enough to work from home are taking to the idea of working in the garden or on the balcony. Unfortunately, if it’s too hot outside this can cause some serious damage to our tech, so what’s the solution here?

Get a cooling mat

One of the easiest ways to protect your tech gear from heat damage is to buy a cooling mat. You simply sit your technology such as your laptop, tablet or phone onto the cooling mat to help keep it cool. Some cooling mats have fans built in for extra cooling.

Have a fan nearby

Speaking of fans, keeping a fan nearby will also help your tech stay nice and cool in the summer heat. Not only that, but you’ll stay fresh as a daisy too.

Keep it clean

If your device is dusty, then there’s a good chance the fans will be too. This will make the machine work harder to expel air and in turn, make it warmer. Keep your devices clean!

Don’t stack electronics

Stacked electronics will overheat even faster. Your best bet is to make sure you don’t stack them at all.

Back up your work to the cloud

Even with all of the preventative measures, sometimes your technology may overheat. If you have work you can’t afford to lose if the hard drive fails, it’s definitely worth backing up all of your work to the cloud.

Buy a protective case

Finally, having a protective case on your device can help keep out the heat. It might be worth investing in one!
